Hustle for a cure raises funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada to support patient programs and research to find cures for blood cancers. The program is held in the winter. We encourage skaters, teams, coaches, families, neighbours and friends in communities across the country to come together to make a difference.
Coaches can register their teams online or contact the LLSC at 1.866.600.0567. Team members can raise funds together or individually.
No. Along with players, hockey fans, parents, family, neighbours and friends can participate as part of your team, or individually. hustle for a cure is a fun event that’s all about bringing people together, to team up for the cause.
That’s up to you! For instance, ask for pledges from family, neighbours and friends based on how many times a player passes the puck during a practice, game or tournament, or have the sponsor pledge a flat dollar amount. Teams can also hold special events to raise funds. Each person and team who registers will automatically receive an online fundraising page. You can use this page to ask for and collect donations. Each team member’s individual donations will contribute to the team total. Nationally, the average raised by each member of the team is $100.
No. Coaches can register their team online or contact the LLSC. Once a team is registered, coaches will receive material to help them administrate the program.
That’s up to you! It is recommended that you fundraise for one to three weeks but, you can run it longer. You can also hold a one-day event. The program is flexible. Contact your local office for tips.
Yes! Even though you can’t attend the Skate with Your Heroes event you can still raise funds towards the cause and earn great incentives if you raise at least $100. Click here to view the incentives you can earn.
If you are participating as an individual, please collect any cash or cheques in your hustle for a cure skater envelope, seal it and either bring it to your local office or bring it to the Skate with Your Heroes event. If you are participating as part of a team, give your sealed skater envelope with the money you collected inside, to your team coach. The team coach will put all of the skater envelopes into a big team envelope, listing all of the skaters and the amount they each raised on the front. The team envelopes can be brought into your local office or taken to the Skate with Your Heroes event. Money raised online is deposited into the bank automatically so you don’t have to do anything with it!

When you register, you will receive a link to your own e-fundraising page right away. You can customize your webpage with your own photos and message. Once it’s done, email the link to people you know and they can donate to you online.
When you register your team online, we will send you one pledge envelope for each team member and a large collection envelope for the team coach. If you need additional envelopes, you can ask for them on our website, or call 1-866-600-0567 and we will mail them to you.

Everyone who raises money for hustle for a cure will receive an invitation to the closest Skate with Your Heroes event. Even though there isn’t a minimum amount you have to raise to be invited, the average amount raised by participants in the past has been $100.
The event will be held in Montreal. For more information visit your local event page or www.hustleforacure.org. We will also email you the location, date and time of the event nearest to you.
It is preferred that you register in advance to attend the Skate with Your Heroes event. On the day of the Skate with Your Heroes event, each hustle for a cure skater must turn in the money they raised to get into the event.
Children of any age are welcome to attend the event. All children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
All participants age 12 and under have to wear a helmet while skating. A waiver must be signed for anyone over age 13 who chooses not to wear a helmet. For youth aged 13-17, the waiver must be signed by their legal guardian.
Due to the fact the schedules of players and officials can change last minute, we are unable to confirm this information prior to the event. However, some of your favourite past and present NHL heroes and special guests will be there.
You can give your invitation to someone else if you contact the local staff at least 48 hours prior to the Skate With Your Heroes event. Note: the new participant must fill out and sign the helmet and photo waiver. |
